About this engine

The 140 hp unit-injector TDI that put a generation of Golfs, Passats and Octavias past 50 mpg without feeling slow — 236 lb-ft from 1,750 rpm does that. "PD" is Pumpe Düse: each injector has its own cam-driven pump element, so injection pressure is enormous and there is no common rail to fail. The unit photographed is marked BKD in blue on the cam cover. Supplied complete with the turbo, manifold and ancillaries as removed. The cam and followers are the known wear point on PD engines; we can strip the cover and photograph the lobes for you before you buy. Sold as a used import, exactly as it came out of the donor vehicle and as photographed. The engine code above is the one marked on this unit; we confirm it against the stamped engine number before dispatch. Compression and leak-down testing is available on request before you commit, and every unit carries a 3-month warranty against internal mechanical failure.
